Analog tape recovery is achieved by using a controlled heating technique (i.e. tape baking). Your analog tape is restored to a workable condition.
Many analog audio tapes from the 70s and beyond are now coming out of storage for remixing and reissue, engineers are finding that in a lot of cases the tape will not play. The problem known as Sticky Shed Syndrome arose when tape manufacturers changed formulations during that period.

Sticky Shed tapes exhibit a tendency to squeal or stick to the guides and heads in the recorders tape path. In severe cases the tape may be sticky enough to even stall the transport and compromise the tape machine.
Cups 'n Strings uses a mechanical convection oven which features internal multiblade blowers that horizontally circulate heated air across all shelf levels for maximum uniformity.
Our oven has a microprocessor based digital temperature controller, which automatically optimizes heat control to within ±1C. It also equipped with an Overtemperature Safety Control feature which interrupts power to oven should the oven exceed the set baking temperature.
If the heating process is applied before the tape is played, there will be no loss of output or spoilt EQ.
Your irreplaceable original tapes are safe in our hands. We understand the value of these tapes and treat them with the utmost care. We have over 35 years of experience in handling analog tape. Five of those years dealing exclusively with the Capitol Records archive.
In cases of original tapes exhibiting Sticky Shed Syndrome we strongly recommend that a second analog safety tape copy be made of the original tape at the time of the digital load-in.
Cups n Strings offers direct machine-to-machine transfers for analog safeties. You may not always get a second chance to replay sticky shed tapes.
